True Colors: Chartering organizations and the BSA’s new policies

02Jul13

In discussions of homosexuality, it is not uncommon for people who disapprove of homosexuality for religious reasons to claim that they are not bigoted, because they, “love the sinner but hate the sin.”

The churches who are considering dropping sponsorship of Boy Scout troops because of the BSA’s policy of allowing gay scouts give lie to that claim:

  • The churches involved disapprove of sex outside of wedlock.
  • The boys in question are not old enough to marry.
  • Therefore, it is clear that the churches are dropping their support of scouting because they disapprove of gay men and boys, not gay sex.

Talk all you want about ‘slippery slopes’, but your actions will speak louder than any of your words.
